If the United Arab Emirates has been on your travel bucket list, planning your next vacation just got a whole lot simpler. The Department of Foreign Affairs recently shared an exciting update for Philippine passport holders. Starting June 25, 2026, the UAE has officially opened up a visa-on-arrival scheme for eligible Filipinos.
This means instead of dealing with lengthy applications before you board your flight, you can get your tourist visa sorted right when you land at the airport.
According to foreign affairs officials, this new travel privilege is a direct result of the strong and excellent bilateral relations between the Philippines and the UAE. Shortly before the policy rolled out, high-level diplomatic meetings took place between the Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro and UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mohamed Obaid Salem Alqataam Alzaabi.
The two leaders focused on strengthening economic ties and making it easier for people to travel between both nations, paving the way for smoother journeys for holidaymakers and families alike.
Who Qualifies for the New Entry Scheme?
Before you start packing your bags and booking your flights to Dubai or Abu Dhabi, it is important to know that this privilege applies to a specific group of travellers.
To qualify for the visa-on-arrival program, you must hold a Philippine passport and possess a valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card from one of the following countries:
- The United States
- European Union member states
- Australia
- Japan
- Singapore
- South Korea
- Canada
- New Zealand
If you hold an active tourist visa or residency status from any of these specific destinations, you are good to go.
This system makes it incredibly convenient for global Filipino travellers or overseas workers who are transiting through the Middle East or planning a side trip on their way back home.
The new scheme offers you several options, depending on how long you plan to stay and explore the UAE. If you are looking for a quick getaway or a short family visit, you can opt for a 14-day visa on arrival.
This option costs AED 100. If you realise two weeks is not enough time to see all the sights, you can extend this visa one time for an additional 14 days by paying a fee of AED 250.
For travellers who prefer a longer vacation to fully immerse themselves in the local culture, shop, or spend quality time with relatives, there is a second option. You can choose a 60-day visa right at the border for AED 250.
However, keep in mind that this 60-day entry permit is strictly non-extendable, so you will need to make sure your travel itinerary fits perfectly within that two-month window. With these flexible options now available, exploring the UAE has truly never been more accessible for eligible Filipino passport holders.
