Filipinos injured in an attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, are receiving medical care as Philippine government officials monitor their condition and assist their families.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said three Filipinos remained in intensive care following the attack, while another injured Filipino had been discharged from hospital. At least one of those still in intensive care was reported to be in critical condition, according to Philippine news reports published on 12 October 2026.
The injured Filipinos included two airport workers and two passengers, according to the DMW. The individual who was discharged had suffered trauma burns and an injury affecting the lumbar region but was considered well enough to leave hospital.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of Filipinos living and working in Saudi Arabia, a major destination for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Philippine Government Assists Injured Filipinos and Their Families
According to The Manila Times, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Riyadh were monitoring the injured Filipinos and providing assistance to their families.
The government has also been coordinating with local authorities and hospitals to monitor the patients’ recovery and determine whether other Filipinos were affected.
Cacdac said officials had reached out to the victims’ families to provide support during the difficult period. No Filipino deaths had been reported in connection with the incident, according to the DMW.
The Philippine government has also continued to assist OFWs affected by travel disruptions resulting from the airport’s temporary closure and flight cancellations.
In a separate update on 13 October, the DMW said there was no deployment ban for Saudi Arabia, although officials were coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of National Defense to assess the security situation. The agency said assistance remained available to affected workers and travellers.
