Taiwan Travel Made Easy: 14-Day Visa-Free Stays Extended for Filipinos

Share:

Great news for Filipino travellers planning their next getaway: Taiwan has officially extended its visa-free entry scheme for Philippine passport holders. The extension allows tourists from the Philippines to explore Taiwan for up to 14 days without needing a visa, stretching the privilege until 31 July 2027.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (Teco) in the Philippines shared the update on Friday, confirming that the new extension kicks in on 1 August 2026.

This comes as welcome news for holidaymakers and weekend trip planners eager to sample Taipei’s vibrant night markets, visit iconic landmarks, or enjoy the scenic countryside.

Taiwan first launched the visa-free pilot program back in November 2017 to boost regional travel. The decision to keep it going reflects a sweet diplomatic trade-off, following the Philippines’ decision to offer Taiwanese visitors a matching 14-day visa-free stay in July 2025.

As Teco put it on Facebook: “In reciprocity for the visa-free privileges the Philippines has extended to Taiwan nationals, Taiwan has also extended its visa-free entry for Philippine passport holders for another year.”

What You Need to Know Before You Book

The extended policy keeps things quick and hassle-free for holidaymakers. Under the renewed terms, anyone travelling on a valid Philippine passport can enter Taiwan for short visits between 1 August 2026 and 31 July 2027.

Officials hope this ongoing arrangement will keep tourism thriving in both directions. Expressing enthusiasm for future holidaymakers, Teco added that they look forward to seeing two-way travel between Taiwan and the Philippines continue to grow.

If you are already eye-ing up a bubble tea run in Taipei or a trip to Jiufen, just double-check the standard eligibility requirements and passport validity rules before booking those flights.
